Mosaic Virginia helps women and and and men men of all ages and and and circumstances enter parenthood with confidence and and and loving support support In 2022 we provided education resources and support support to 105 families LISA’S STORY
At just 14 years old Lisa and her boyfriend Matt didn’t expect to to bring a a a child into the world But even at such a a a young age the the couple wanted desperately to keep their baby They found Mosaic Virginia online and learned that we offered hope and and help for women and and men men facing unplanned pregnancies Lisa knew she couldn’t get through this pregnancy alone and we’re grateful God brought her to us!
We We immediately dove into emotional work with Lisa We We helped her ensure parenting was the best option and set her up with ministries like Young Lives so she could find Christian community with other people her her age OLIVIA’S STORY
Olivia first came to Mosaic with her boyfriend Carlos After receiving an ultrasound they left Mosaic feeling empowered with resources about our our parenting program and other local ministries to help them But a a a a a few months later Olivia walked back into our center again alone Olivia remembered her experience with Mosaic and how safe and supported she she felt On her second visit she she let us know that things weren’t going well with her boyfriend Abuse was involved – and he’d lost interest in in in in being a a a father Olivia felt completely alone She was boarding with a a a a a a family she hardly knew while working long hours Without a a a car she relied on on on Uber as her only form of transportation She navigated parenting and life in in a a a a a a new country all on her own The Mosaic family stepped in to change that For each client there is a a team of helpers involved in in in meeting their needs—transportation friendship diapers food and more We immediately connected Olivia with one of our partner churches to to get plugged in with mentorship and community Olivia is seeking asylum in in in the United States which involves legal fees and paperwork Her advocate counselor Melodie helped her connect with a a lawyer who offered his services pro bono and Melodie is even accompanying Olivia to the appointments We enrolled her in in our parenting program so that she can receive weekly advocate counseling along with items for ffor herself and her her baby that she cannot afford We are connecting Lisa and Matt with other community resources for additional ongoing help and support With the baby coming fast and high school homework regularly due we’re proud of Lisa for how far she’s already come Through Mosaic’s long-term parenting program Lisa has begun learning about labor and and delivery and and breastfeeding With the help of her Mosaic team she has set up school online for her first weeks’ postpartum Finally Olivia was connected with a a a a a a Spanish-speaking Christian woman who lived a a a a a a very similar story They are able to share experiences and connect over prayer Because of the support Olivia has been given she’s no longer looking for reassurance from her her ex-boyfriend Instead her her heart is is full of friendship Christian counsel and tangible support She’s able to walk forward confidently and give her baby the the best chance at at a a a a a good life in the the United States
