             MOSAIC HOUSE - COMING SOON!
After much planning, waiting, and praying—we are grateful for the opportunity to open Mosaic House in the new year! It has always been our prayer that God would unite Mosaic’s community of supporters and volunteers to grow His kingdom in Northern Virginia. We are now able to provide housing for pregnant mothers in need.
ALIYA’S STORY
Growing up, abuse was an everyday part of Aliya’s* childhood. Physical and emotional abuse was all she knew—and it only got worse when she was forced
into an arranged marriage.
At their wedding ceremony, Aliya’s husband signed a document stating that he never wanted to have children. It was considered Aliya’s responsibility to prevent any pregnancy from occurring.
But when Aliya came to Mosaic Virginia for a pregnancy confirmation, she didn’t want an abortion. She wanted her baby.
Aliya didn’t know how to break the news to her husband. She feared for her safety and for her baby’s life. When viewing her ultrasound, Aliya told her advocate counselor she was both happy and sad. She was excited about the possibility of a future child—and afraid of what it would cost her.
Mosaic’s advocate counselors and nurses knew this was a situation Aliya couldn’t handle on her own. She needed guidance, and she needed a loving Heavenly Father to work miracles in her life.
Aliya told her advocate counselor that at Mosaic, she felt safe for the first time in a long time. She was able to really consider all of her options and briefly set aside her anxieties. “Now I feel stronger,” she said. “I love this place. It feels like home.”
Mosaic has walked alongside Aliya during her pregnancy— always encouraging her to take things one step at a time and to put her situation in God’s hands. And God has watched out for her. Aliya gets happy that her baby moves and wiggles whenever her advocate counselor talks about Jesus.
It didn’t take Aliya long to start asking questions about Jesus. She wanted to know more about the God who gave her that soothing, peaceful feeling every time her advocate counselor prayed over her. Aliya’s advocate counselor gave her a Bible, and connected her with a loving group of Christian women
who were happy to walk alongside Aliya and answer any questions she had.
Surrounded by support and love, compelled by a merciful and loving Heavenly Father, Aliya accepted Jesus into her heart.
“Now I feel stronger. I love this place.
It feels like home.” -Aliya, Mosaic client
He was working in her from the moment she came to Mosaic-–and He still is, as her advocate counselor gets her more open to the idea of escaping her current home situation. In cases of severe abuse, it often takes time for women to find the courage to leave. We’ve told Aliya we’re saving her a place in Mosaic’s new maternity home—and it’s ready when she is.
For women like Aliya, logistics are a big consideration when it comes to leaving an abusive situation. Things like where she’ll live, what she’ll eat, and how she’ll provide for herself are huge roadblocks to freedom. Mosaic’s new maternity home will provide a safe place that removes these logistical roadblocks—empowering women to focus on their safety and wellbeing. We’re hopeful that Aliya will be one of our first guests.
